Fan of the Month: Meet Joseph, founder of Taylor Swift Malaysia

Stanly is an app and community focused on fan-centrism, where we always put fans first in our missions. We recognize that it's you who bring Stanly to life and make the experience truly special, so today, we're announcing a new way to tell your stories, super stans!

We're proud to launch our monthly series "Fan of the Month," where each month we will select a fan from any fandom to share their story, experiences and passion for their idols. This is another way to get to know you a little better. We believe that every fan has a story to tell, whether you're a fan of singers, actors, bands, groups, characters, your experiences and perspectives are valuable and deserve to be heard.

This special series begins with someone who has been with Stanly since day one. Joseph was one of the first people to test the app even before it was released to the public, when we didn't have all the features we have today. He was impressed with the app's interface, direction, and purpose, which led him to log in daily to participate in group chats, trivias, games and interact with other Swifties. And he remains loyal to this day.

Joseph Bong is an interior architect and the owner of the Taylor Swift Malaysia fan club, who has been a dedicated fan for more than half of his life, having become a Swiftie at just 14 years old.

"Her music has been my constant companion through all the ups and downs of my life, from high school to college, and even into my career. It's amazing how things change, but her music has remained the same."

His connection with Taylor is so special that it made Joseph create a fan club for Taylor Swift back in June 2014, when she went to perform her first show in Malaysia with The Red Tour.

What started as a Twitter fan club for tour updates, grew into a true community and safe space for her fans in the country. Over time, Taylor Swift Malaysia became a meeting place for Swifties to exchange merch, make friends, and participate in events for Taylor Swift. In 2022, after the pandemic, Jo and his fan club team created the "Swifties Season" event, which was a huge hit and a major milestone for Malaysian Swifties.

All your dedication has always been noticed by us. Jo was surprised with a trip to London, England, to attend The Eras Tour London, a gift from one of our Stanly founders, for his loyalty, hard work and commitment. In London, he also had the opportunity to reunite with his best Swiftie friends and received tickets from them to watch another day of the concert as a 31st birthday present.

This wasn't his first Eras Tour concert, Jo had already attended The Eras Tour in Melbourne and Singapore, but the experience in London was even more special. He was able to see Taylor Swift up close in the General Admission section and witnessed the debut of the new bodysuit from the "Midnights" era. The surprises continued when he managed to get last-minute tickets for the last show in London, where she performed 'Florida' with Florence and the Machine and invited her best producer, Jack Antonoff, on stage to sing 'Death by a Thousand Cuts' and 'Getaway Car' together.  What memorable days!

Thank you, Jo, for sharing your story with us and showing how being a fan can create lasting relationships and unforgettable experiences. We hope you have even more incredible moments in your fan journey and with Stanly.
